In short: a hospital construction company turns a clinical brief into a building where departments, circulation, ventilation, power, water, drainage and fire safety work together. It is more demanding than an office or apartment building because services are denser, uptime matters, and patients, staff and supplies need separate, safe routes.
Good hospital delivery starts before construction. The number and mix of beds, departments, diagnostic and surgical services, and the equipment the operator intends to install all affect the structure, the floor-to-floor heights, the plant rooms and the budget. Our role is to coordinate those decisions into drawings and then build them accurately.
Outpatients, emergency, wards, diagnostics, theatres and support services in one building.
Maternity, gynaecology, paediatric and neonatal departments with family-friendly circulation.
Outpatient and day-procedure facilities, often on smaller urban plots.
Consulting suites, laboratories and imaging, sometimes with retail pharmacy space.
We also take on hospital renovations, upgrades and new blocks added to operating hospitals.

Hospital layouts are planned around how departments relate to each other. Emergency needs quick access to imaging and theatres; theatres need direct links to recovery and sterile services; wards need efficient nursing stations and service routes.
Our hospital architecture design service covers this stage in detail, and a hospital feasibility study can come first if the project is still being evaluated.
Hospitals carry heavy equipment, dense services and, often, plans for future floors or blocks. The structure is designed with those needs in mind: column grids that suit wards and theatres, slab zones that allow for service openings, plant loads on roofs, and foundations sized for any planned vertical expansion.
Construction planning sets the sequence of excavation, structure, services and finishes, and — for extensions to operating hospitals — how work is phased and separated from patients. Learn more about our structural engineering services.
Air-conditioning and ventilation zoned by department, with pressure relationships, filtration and air changes set by the healthcare design brief for areas such as theatres and isolation rooms.
Normal and standby power, generator and UPS provisions for critical areas, lighting and low-voltage systems, with space and routes for future loads.
Hot and cold water, water storage and treatment provisions, drainage separation and fixtures suited to clinical areas.
Compartmentation, protected escape routes, detection and alarm, and fire-fighting systems planned for patients who may not be able to evacuate unaided.
Specialist systems such as medical-gas pipelines, modular operation theatres and clinical equipment are supplied and commissioned by specialist contractors. We coordinate their space, routes, builder’s work and services connections within the overall design and construction.

Circulation affects infection risk, privacy, emergency response and running costs. We plan it from the first layouts so it is built into the structure rather than managed with signs later.
Clear, signposted routes from entrances and emergency drop-off to reception, outpatients and wards, with step-free access throughout.
Direct routes between wards, theatres and support departments that avoid public areas where possible.
Controlled access to wards and waiting areas sized for families.
Service lifts and corridors that keep clean supplies, food, linen and clinical waste apart from patient routes.
Clinical areas need finishes that are durable, cleanable and suited to their use: seamless or easy-clean flooring, wall protection, suitable ceilings, washroom fittings and joinery designed for healthcare. Public areas can be calm and welcoming without compromising maintenance.

Two hospitals of the same floor area can cost very differently. The main drivers are:

Construction work is one part of opening a hospital. Building approval, healthcare licensing and environmental and safety requirements are separate processes, and the operator remains responsible for clinical compliance. Typical considerations include:
| Area | What it covers | Who is usually involved |
|---|---|---|
| Building plan approval | Land use, building drawings, structural design and building regulations for the plot. | LDA, DHA Lahore or the relevant housing society |
| Healthcare registration and licence | Registration and licensing of the healthcare establishment, assessed against minimum service delivery standards. | Punjab Healthcare Commission (operator’s application) |
| Fire and life safety | Escape routes, detection, alarm and fire-fighting provisions for the building. | Fire-safety authority and the design team |
| Hospital waste | Segregation, storage and disposal arrangements for hospital waste, which need space in the building and site. | Environment Protection Department, Punjab (Punjab Hospital Waste Management Rules) |
Requirements change and depend on the facility’s size and services. Confirm the current requirements with each authority early in design. ACCO prepares design and construction information; it does not grant or guarantee approvals or licences.

ACCO combines architecture, structural, MEP and fire-safety engineering with construction, which reduces gaps between design and site work on technically demanding buildings. When comparing companies, ask:
Look for healthcare design and construction experience, PEC registration, and a team that can coordinate the clinical brief with structure, MEP and fire safety. Ask for an itemised BOQ, a written specification, a programme, the site supervision arrangement and references for comparable healthcare buildings.
Yes. ACCO provides hospital architecture, structural, MEP and fire-safety design and construction, either under one contract or as separate appointments.
General and multi-specialty hospitals, mother-and-child and children’s hospitals, clinics, day-care centres, medical complexes and diagnostic centres, including renovations and extensions.
These systems are supplied, installed and commissioned by specialist contractors. ACCO coordinates their space, routes, builder’s work and services connections as part of the design and construction.
Bed numbers and department mix, theatres and other high-services areas, floor area and basements, HVAC and power requirements, fire safety, specialist systems, finish level, and whether the work is new build or an extension to an operating hospital.
Building plan approval from the relevant authority such as LDA, DHA Lahore or a society; registration and licensing of the healthcare establishment with the Punjab Healthcare Commission; and fire-safety and hospital waste arrangements that meet the applicable rules. Requirements depend on the facility, so confirm them with each authority early.
Yes. The work is surveyed first, then phased and separated from patient areas, with temporary arrangements for access, services and dust and noise control agreed with the hospital.
It depends on size, number of floors, approvals, specialist systems and the construction contract. A project-specific programme is prepared with the BOQ once the design is coordinated.
The site location and size, the services and approximate bed numbers you plan, any existing drawings or approvals, your budget range and target opening date.
