Vietnam’s Hoa Binh Awarded Five Kenya Housing Contracts

Kenya’s housing ministry has awarded Vietnam’s Hoa Binh Construction Group five social housing contracts worth a total US$72 million.
The contracts involve the design and construction of a combined 3,400 housing units for the police force, military and technical university students, mostly located in the capital Nairobi.
Specifically, the housing units are for the General Service Unit (GSU) Training School in Embakasi, the Ruiru Police Headquarters, the head office of GSU Training School in Buruburu, the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi and Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo.
It represents Hoa Binh Construction’s first foray into the African market.
The group says it has also been invited to submit design and construction plans for two other social housing projects in Kenya, involving about 6,200 units with a combined value of US$91.6 million.
This would take the firm’s total value of social housing contracts in Kenya to US$163.6 million.
According to company chairman Le Viet Hai, Africa is a valuable market for Hoa Binh and the firm will initially focus on social housing schemes and then move on to constructing high-end projects.
