Cote d’Ivoire Launches Work On National Data Centre

Cote d’Ivoire has launched construction work on its national data centre in the town of Marcory-Anoumabo in the capital city Abidjan.
The Tier-3 data centre is being built in partnership with the US, with work being carried out by US firm Cybastion over a period of 12 months.
The data centre is being constructed across 20,000 square metres and will feature 2×400 racks, an energy capacity of 1MW and a storage capacity of more than 2,200 terabits.
The project will involve investment of US$60 million and the facility is planned to host the data of national administrative entities and provide disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
“[The data centre] is designed to stimulate the dematerialisation of administrative procedures, thus serving the modernisation of our public administration,” said Minister of Digital Transition and Digitalisation Ibrahim Kalil Konate, speaking at the launch on 14 December.
“As a catalyst for innovation, this data centre will serve not only to host the data of national administrative entities, but also to offer disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, thus strengthening the resilience and security of our information system.”
In July 2023, Cybastion announced it would collaborate with Cote d’Ivoire’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy to build the data centre.
In June 2023, the company announced it had signed an MoU with the ministry for the development of a digital city in the country, which included joint endeavours to mobilise a consortium of specialised companies for the Digital Administrative City project.
