Mota-Engil Wins US$955 Million Of Work In Angola

The African subsidiary of Portugal’s Mota-Engil has won three contracts in Angola worth around US$955 million, spanning the housing, road and water sectors.
Mota-Engil Africa has signed a US$670 million contract with the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing (MINOPUH) for the design and construction of infrastructure at the Marginal da Corimba waterfront development in Luanda, the country’s capital.
The project involves building 2,000 social housing units, four road junctions and the Cambanda road corridor as well as rehabilitating access roads to the waterfront. Work is due be completed within 36 months.
Mota-Engil Africa has inked a second deal with MINOPUH worth US$228 million to rehabilitate general infrastructure at the Nova Vida development in Luanda’s Kilamba Kiaxi municipality. The scope includes earthworks and paving, water supply and drainage networks, and remodelling and expansion of a wastewater treatment facility. The contract has a duration of 24 months.
The third contract is worth US$57 million and was signed with the General Tax Administration to restructure and improve the Luvo border post in the Zaire province, on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Completion is targeted within 20 months.
In November 2021, China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Angolan Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion for work at the 255-hectare Marginal da Corimba project before proceeding to sign a contract worth US$3 billion for the project in August 2022.

Construction commenced in August 2022, according to the state-owned Angola Press Agency.
