LDA to formulate strategy to resolve traffic mess

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sought to set up an interdepartmental body to devise a drawn-out answer for the traffic mess in the city.

LDA Vice Chairman, SM Imran, in a meeting held on Wednesday revealed this news.

He also discussed the increasing prevalence of traffic issues in Lahore. He mentioned that TEPA, LDA and related offices should respond to these issues urgently by devising sound policies and proper planning. 

He informed that a committee would soon be formed to formulate long-term policy solutions to curb traffic issues in the city. The committee will constitute representatives from NESPAK, city police and other relevant agencies, he added.

He further maintained that the committee would conduct a detailed study upon the growing problems of traffic jams, road accidents, missing signboards, pedestrian issues, the feasibility of roads and others. It will also publish its report to raise awareness and inform the committee’s policy decisions and planning.

LDA City project: LDA acquires 80pc of land

LAHORE:  Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) General Ahmad Aziz Tarar while visiting the project site of LDA City was briefed about the latest developments on the project.

LDA officials while briefing DG LDA informed that the development authority has acquired 80pc of the land for the project while most of the work has been completed in Jinnah Sector.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG LDA directed the official to ensure the provision of electricity, water, and gas within two months, and expedite the pace of development work.

According to the details, the civic authority will finish and deliver the project by next year.

For the convenience of the investors, LDA has also introduced an online mechanism for the payments of LDA City apartments.

LDA City Apartments: PM performs balloting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan performed the balloting of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) City Apartments – a joint venture by the Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) and Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

Out of the four-thousand apartment project, a total of two thousand apartments will be distributed amongst those registered with NAPHDA.

Each apartment worth Rs4.7 million will be distributed at a down payment of 10 per cent.

The remaining amount can be paid over five to twenty years by the owner. The process of paying instalments will begin once the possession is handed over to the applicant.

LDA for more Miyawaki Urban Forests in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) announced the establishment of Miyawaki Urban Forest worth Rs96 million at three prime locations of Jubilee Town, Avenue One and Mohalanwal in the city. 

As per the sources, the LDA has initiated its urban plan to effectively plan the plantation of the forests in its controlled areas. For this purpose, a huge amount of money will be allocated to the smooth functioning of the project to ensure effective delivery. 

In addition, a working paper is in the pipeline to allow the transfer of Rs96 million to PHA for the project. The paper will be presented in the next meeting of the relevant governing body for approval.

LDA takes action against illegal buildings

LAHORE: In the wake of the drive against illegal buildings and construction, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday demolished 28 illegal structures in various vicinities of Lahore.

According to the details, the authority demolished illegal buildings on the directives of LDA chairman, Ahmed Aziz Tarar.

The grand operation took place in 26 illegal housing schemes situated on Canal Road, GT Road, and Wagah Town.

On the occasion, the civic authority also sealed the offices of illegal housing schemes and razed encroaching green belts, sewerage systems, and infrastructure under construction.

The operation took place in the presence of a contingent of police and LDA’s enforcement squad.

LDA takes action against land grabbers

LAHORE: In a drive against land grabbers, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Monday took action against land grabbers and regained possession of various plots.

According to the details, the plots were retrieved from land grabbers in Johar Town valued at Rs10mn each.

The action was taken by the Enforcement Wing and Directorate of Housing of LDA and retrieved five plots in the vicinity.

The civic authority has launched action against land grabbers on various occasions and retrieving the state-owned land and private plots from land grabbers.

LDA takes action against 12 illegal housing societies

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday took action against 12 illegal housing societies and demolished illegal structures.

According to the details, LDA took action against illegal housing societies on Ferozepur Road, and Shahzada Road.

As per the media reports, the development authority demolished the sewerage systems, under construction roads, green belts, and other infrastructure.

Furthermore, the authority also sealed the various offices of the illegal housing societies.  

 

 




LDA decides to introduce online payment system

ISLAMABAD: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to introduce an online payment mechanism to facilitate the citizen of Lahore.

According to the details, Director General (DG) LDA, Ahmed Aziz Tarar while chairing the meeting Grievance Redressal Committee directed the staff to introduce an online payment system.

The online portal will enable the citizens of Lahore to pay their fees and other charges related to LDA online.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG was of the view that the recovery system of LDA should also be improved and people should be informed about the online payment system.

The DG was also of the view that all the installments and invoice forms should be issued online while citizens should also be communicated through emails and SMS.

Commercial plots worth Rs200.9mn auctioned by LDA

LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has auctioned 11 commercial plots worth Rs200.9mn in various housing schemes on Wednesday.

According to the details, the plots were auctioned by the auction committee of LDA in the presence of the Additional Director General (Housing).

The auction ceremony was attended by the Director of Finance, Director of Land Development, and Director of Estate Management of LDA.

LDA to construct two more underpasses

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved the construction of two underpasses in the budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 in order to ease traffic congestion. 

According to sources, the construction of underpasses was proposed by Chief Minister Punjab. 

As per details, the underpasses are to be constructed at Akbar Chowk and Samanabad Chowk. 

The site study for Akbar Chowk is conducted by LDA’s engineering department. The chowk will be constructed by LDA with their own resources while it will benefit around 248,000 people. 

An underpass at Samanabad Chowk on Multan Road has also been suggested to address traffic woes. 

The underpass has been proposed at Samanabad Chowk on Multan Road in view of traffic congestion.  An estimated Rs1.20 billion has been proposed for the project.

LDA seeks clarification for preparation of new master plan

LAHORE: In a meeting of governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the officials of LDA asked for clarification for the preparation and continuation of developing the new master plan for the Lahore District.

According to the details, the civic authority had been involved in the consultation process for developing a new master plan which also included districts of Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Lahore.

The move from the civic authority has come after the ordinance promulgated by the governor restricted the building and housing control to the Lahore city only.

In a meeting held in November, it was decided that a master plan for the Lahore division including Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Lahore will be prepared.

LDA okays e-tendering mechanism for development projects

LAHORE: In a meeting chaired by SM Imran, Vice Chairman Lahore Development Authority (LDA) of the governing body of LDA, the meeting approved the e-tendering mechanism for development projects.

According to the details, the governing body also gave the approval of constructing a 1000 beds hospital over 118 Kanal on the land of Kot Lakhpat Mandi.

In the meeting, the governing body under the Area Development Programme gave a green signal to the sixteen different cases for the specific use of land.

Furthermore, the meeting also gave waivers to different welfare schemes in the form of commercialisation fee, approval fee, and conversion fee.
